VIJAY THE WAY TO STARDOM

“It’s not a cinematic face at all….it’s simply a tinplate….the mouse-like thing that is his face…” these were some of the most devastating and negative type of criticism lavished upon Vijay once upon a time when he had had just stepped into cinefield as newface artist! It’s only after boldly facing all such odds and insults that ‘young super star’ Vijay has reached the pinnacle of highest fame and popularity he’s enjoying now!

He got introduced into film-acting through the Tamil film directed by his father S.A.Chandrasekaran. While acting in the film, one day in the sets, an assistant director made fun of Vijay saying that the latter’s face just looked like a mouse! This comment, as it was made, didn’t fail to reach Vijay’s ears too! But he simply took it rather sportively and didn’t get angry at all! Instead he began putting in hard-work and saw that his acting career gradually got elevated to the top spot, as far as newcomers are concerned, in cine industry!

One of the consequences of this sudden growth is that he earned the name of “the emperor of (revenue) collection” (“vasool chakravarthy”) even as early as his 17th film itself! Cinema Distributors gathered together and announced: “Vijay’s films have the same kind of reception and revenue collection as Rajinikanth and Kamalhassan’s films do have! So we remove ceiling method for getting distribution rights for his films!”.

Vijay always remains very simple without the least trace of any affected manners or pretence! Rather he’s very affectionate towards one and all and shows special respect and regards to parents and elders! He worships with gratitude those who are responsible for his present level of development in life! First of all his father S.A.Chandrasekaran, mother Shoba, then actor Vijayakanth—-like this his list of people who lend him great help in his formative period in cinema is getting on extended!

Vijay was born on June 22 as son to the lovers turned life-partners S.A.Chandrasekaran and Shoba! Vijay also had an younger sister by name Vidya, but the latter died quite unexpectedly! S.A.Chandrasekaran has directed so far 50 films in different languages. Shoba has directed “Nanbargal” and “Innisai Mazhai”.

Vijay who’s a drop-out from an incompleted B.Sc. Visual Communications course in Chennai Loyola College, got introduced as newface hero through the Tamil film “Naalaiya Theerppu”, directed by his father S.A.Chandrasekaran. Vijay, who treats actor Vijayakanth as his affectionate elder brother, remains a staunch fan of Super Star Rajinikanth. Among actresses Meena, Gajol and Madhuri Dixit are his favourites.

When Vijay was acting in “Deva”, during the shooting of a particular action sequence, without asking for a dupe artist, he himself jumped down from a terrace, and thus greatly stunned the viewers who had assembled there, with his act of valour! While acting in “Chandralekha” he got leg injury and managed acting in the subsequent shots as a lame person. It’s Vijay’s habit to attend punctually his shooting schedules! “Punctuality is the most important thing”–this’s an advice by his father. Also Vijay hasn’t so far been trapped into any nasty gossips of derogatory kind.

His hit films like “Poove Unakkaaka”, “Love To-day”, ‘Nerukku Ner”, “Once More”, “Kaathalukku Mariyathai”, “Ninaiththen Vanthaai”, “Yentrentrum Kaathal” and “Thullaatha Manamum Thullum” have, one after the other, made easy the cineworld success-journey of Vijay. Rajinikanth once showered upon him his heart-felt felicitations saying: “You have got God’s great help. Work hard and you can attain still greater levels of development in future”.

In a theatre in Chennai, the victory celebration of the film “Poove Unakkaaka” took place. Tamilnadu Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi participated in it and gave away the shield to Vijay. This is considered by Vijay as the most fortunate omen in his career and he has now started lending various helps to the needy poor through his fans’ association. When asked “Whether such acts of lending assistance to the poor is anything like laying the foundation for Vijay’s future entry into politics?”, he replies: “No, no…If one is born as a human being, it becomes his bounden duty to do good to other fellow beings! I’m doing only that! I would remain, until the last, an actor liked by all!”

Jaya TV Buys 'Kaavalan'?

Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ has been facing more problems from the first schedules as one or other reasons keep hopping into it. Vijay Vs Distributors and later Asin’s visit to Sri Lanka followed by changing schedules in release dates…

Now we learn that talks are going on with Jaya TV for the satellite rights. The closer sources mention that talks are on initial levels and things will be confirmed shortly after a week.

Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ will finally hit screens on January 14, 2011 for the occasion of Pongal along with Karthi’s ‘Siruthai’ and Dhanush starrer ‘Aadukalam’.

"Vijay will not involve himself in direct policts now.. he may be get involved in the election compaing for a political party" said SA Chandirasekar - Vijay's father. SA Chadirasekar was in Erode to identify locations for his upcoming movie.  In the evening he me the press and as he expected the questions are all about his and his son's plan for entering politics. When he was asked about the reason for him meeting AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha, he answered "I know Kamaraj.. but not his party; I know Anna, but not his party; I know Karunanidhi, but not his party; I know Jayalalitha, but not her party; I know Vijayakanth, but not his party... knowing leaders who work for people is a good habit and I am not running for power.  Myself and my son will get involved in election compaigns and we will test it as a first step!"

Kavalan to cost 18 million rupees more!

It seems to be a very tough time for Ilayathalapathy Vijay.

As he has thrown away opportunities from Sun Pictures and other people from the Tamil Nadu ruling family, they give him lots of kudaichal to him from all corners. Initially it was RM Veerappan who dictated Vijay's team not to use the title Kaavalkaaran as the title belongs to them as they have made a movie with MGR using the same title. Then they changed the name to Kaaval-Kaadhal but settled with Kaavalan. Few days before we all read that theaters are purposefully blocked to make the movie wait for some more time to get released.  The issue almost got settled after Vijay's father met ADMK supremo! Now the issue is from Gokulam Gopalan.  He has demanded Rs 18 million through the city court and managed to get the order in his favour! All these events are predicting that Vijay will be joining politics soon by coming Jan 2011...

Vijay fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Kaavalan and the star is busy with the Velayudham shooting. With the official announcement out that Vijay is not a part of the 3 Idiots remake; his fans were left wondering what his next project would be.
Here it is! Pagalavan, which director Seeman had announced before being sent to jail for making some adverse remarks against the government, is due to take off soon. Soon after being released, Seeman had said that he would commence Pagalavan and now we have news that the film will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Pagalavan will take off next year, we hear. 

Court’s conditions for ‘Kavalan’

The Madras High Court on Tuesday allowed the release of ‘Kavalan’, the Vijay starrer, on the condition that the producer and director of the film furnish a security for Rs 1.88 crore towards the suit filed by a private finance company claiming copyrights.

Disposing of the application filed by Sri Gokulam Chit and Finance Company Pvt Ltd, Justice V Ramasubramanian said, “I am of the view that K I Siddique (director) and Romesh Babu of Ekaveera Creations (producer) should be directed to furnish a security of Rs 1.88 crore.”

“The plaintiff not only has a prima facie case”, the Judge said and added that the balance of convenience (the determining of whether or not an action should be taken) is also in its favour.

Justice Ramasubramanian said allowing Ekaveera Creations to release the film would take care of his interests. Simultaneously, directing him to furnish security for the suit claim would take care of the interests of Sree Gokulam Chit also.

A remake of Malayalam hit ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Kavalan’, which is the 51st film of Vijay, has Asin and Vadivelu in pivotal roles. The movie has music by Vidyasagar. ‘Kavalan’ is scheduled for Pongal release.

Captain of Kollywood:Suriya or Vijay?

Celebrity Cricket League T20 (CCLT20) will be held during the last week of January 2011. Actors from film industries like Bollywood, Tollywood, Sandalwood, and Kollywood have confirmed their participation in this cricket league, so far.

There is a huge speculation on who would captain the Kollywood team and fingers point at Vijay or Suriya but it has not been finalized as yet. Further 24 probables have been selected thus far out of which 11 players will be chosen to play the match.

According to Sarath Kumar, this cricket match will boost the ties between different film industries and act as bridge to develop friendship between the film industries.

3 Idiots remake: An official satement

According to the producer, they parted ways in friendly terms and have no hard feelings against each other. The question now arises as to who would play the role offered to Vijay. There is a talk in Kollywood that Suriya, who was initially the choice to play Aamir Khan’s role, will be approached with the offer. Will he accept?

The producer of 3 Idiots remake, Gemini Film Circuit has made an official statement that Vijay is not a part of their project anymore. The decision to replace him was made after the actor conveyed to them about his call sheet problems and date clashes.
