Maverick director Mani Ratnam, who had signed Vijay for Ponniyin Selvan, has reportedly decided to use his allotted dates for his next film, as his much-publicized Ponniyin Selvan has been dropped. If reports are to be believed, the director has convinced the actor for his next flick.
Reports suggest that Mani Ratnam, who has three scripts in hand, will direct an action-oriented masala film. It also adds that the director feels that Vijay, who has seen a huge success in commercial films, would fit the role perfectly. Hence, he decided to use the actor's dates.
An unconfirmed report also claims that the filmmaker is also planning for a sequel of his superhit movie Alaipayuthey, which starred Madhavan and Shalini in the leads. However, nothing has been confirmed yet and if the director opts his next with Vijay, then he might announce it on the actor's birthday (June 22), concludes a source.
