Vijay recently came back to Chennai after a brief vacation in Dubai. He went to Dubai to unwind after the grueling schedules for Velayutham and Nanban are over. Both the movies are close to getting wrapped up and will be released this year.

With back-to-back movie releases, Vijay is also busy discussing about his next project with AR Murugadoss. The director, who recently finished 7aum Arivu to be released for Diwali, is discussing the script and other details with Vijay.

An official announcement on the movie’s commencement date is expected soon.

Velayudham shooting at Thiruvananthapuram

We have mentioned enough number of times of Vijay’s Velayudham but still it carries something interesting. Currently the film is on the heels of completion.

According to the sources it is known that the shoot of the film is going at a huge stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Director Jayam Raja is canning some important scenes involved several thousand junior artistes. The team also wrapped up climax scenes in Chennai recently. Vijay is going to coming out with a different and unique look in this film. Genelia and Hansika Motwani are playing the female leads opposite Vijay. The final mixing of the audio is going on in New York and the CD printing process is already in progress. The audio will be out in stores in July.

After finishing the stunt scenes at the stadium, the crew will be flying to abroad to shot one song. With the shoot of the song the film gets completed.

Velayudham is a masala film filled with all right ingredients in right ratio for a block buster hit.

Twin fun in August

It looks like the fans of the 'Ultimate Star' as well as the fans of 'Ilaya Thalapathi' will rule the roost come August.

The reason  - well Vijay's superhero project 'Velayudham' is in its final stages of shooting. The team needs to shoot a couple of songs after which the post-production teams will add the final touchups for the film. Anyways the film will be ready for release by the second or third week in August reveal sources close to the filming unit.

Similarly, director Venkat Prabhu is shooting the final sequences of his Ajith starrer 'Mankatha.' After a good dose of post-production work 'Mankatha' will hit theatres during August. The producer of this flick, Dayanidhi Alagiri, has revealed that the music album of 'Mankatha' will hit stands sometime in July as a precursor to the film's release the following month.

The only other time the films of Ajith and Vijay released during the same time was more than three years back where 'Pokiri' and 'Alwar' crossed swords. But now both the stars are on more friendly terms than ever and this is a very positive sign for fans. Instead of fighting as to which of their icons' film was better they can now enjoy seeing both their films!

Whatever it is the theatre owners are sure to have a good time laughing their way to the banks!

Ajith-Vijay clash in August?

News that is making waves these days is that Mankatha and Velayutham are headed for a clash at the box office. Though Vijay and Ajith have proved that they are good friends in real life, their fans always expect their respective films to release simultaneously. It now looks like Velayutham and Mankatha will release in the same month, if not the same day. Kollywood is abuzz with news that both these films are heading for an August release this year. Mankatha has been wrapped up recently and the post production work is on and Velayutham is also nearing completion. From the looks of it, both these films will make it in August, sources say.

This August, Kollywood fans can look forward to a battle between the films of two of the top stars, Vijay and Ajith. CT gets you the big story...

Tamil cinema is gearing up for a Vijay versus Ajith battle as their films, Velayudham and Mankatha, are getting ready for an August release. The talkie portions of both films are almost over. What remains is some patchwork and a song or two which will be picturised overseas.

Director M Raja, who is busy with Velayudham, says, “We have almost completed the entire talkie portion of the film and have to shoot two songs. The post-production work will take a month. We are looking at a mid-August release.” The producer of Mankatha, Dhayanidhi Alagiri had recently, through a tweet, confirmed that his film would be released in August.

Says Annamalai, a leading distributor, “It is almost certain that Vijay’s Velayudham will clash with Ajith’s Mankatha in August. Both the films will be ready by July but since it is the beginning of ‘Aadi Masam’, traditionally big films will not release. As of now, the best date is August 12, when you have a three-day Independence Day weekend, at one point considered the most popular date for the release of Tamil biggies.”

Vijay's 'Velayudham’ Villain Is Excited

He just needed a film to showcase his potentials and today, he becomes the most favorite character artiste in all regional movies. Abhimanyu Singh arrested our senses with his atrociously shaded character in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Rakta Charithram’. One could feel the realistic flavor of a typical baddie exerted by his performance. The actor has now become the favorite of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma as he has signed him for couple of more movies.

His upcoming Hindi film will feature him in a positive role while the Telugu movie ‘Bezawada Rowdylu’ delineates him as a notorious thug, who kills his own brother for the sake of gaining power.

The actor is very much excited about his debut in Kollywood through the film ‘Velayudham’. The actor says that he has been an ardent buff of Tamil films for it boasts of different genres. Abhimanyu Singh performs villain role opposite Vijay and has a meaty role to strike with.

Vijay working on back to back schedules

ilayathalapathy Vijay is busy working on non stop schedules for two of his upcoming films. The actor still has to complete the shoot of Velayudham which will take another couple of weeks.

Velayudham is currently on the heels of completion as the climax stunt sequence is currently being shot in the gigantic sets erected at Kollywood’s favourite shooting spot Binny Mills. Vijay is going to join Nanban soon after wrapping up Velayudham. In spite of his tight schedules Vijay is making his best efforts to take part in Nanban’s shoot as the time zones vary between day and night.

Meanwhile Shankar is canning other parts of the film with Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana and other junior artists in Chennai.

It is just because of Vijay’s dedication and commitment many directors want to work with him. Kudos to Vijay!

Velayudham buy Someone Please

Even big producers like Aascar Ravichandran face these types of crisis while making big hero films. For a director like Jayam Raja, Velayudham should have been completed far earlier than now.
The delay is due to Vijay’s eagerness to act in Shankar’s Nanban for which he gave top priority. Meanwhile, Velayudham’s shooting was going on but Vijay skipped Velayudham’s shooting to act in Nanban.
This has led the budget to shoot up which has led to a delay in completing and releasing the film. Aascar Ravichandran can’t take it anymore and so had decided to sell his film to some big production house and move on.
Aascar Ravichandran did not also want any kind of political participation but both Vijay and SAC have been trying to rope in the Chief Minister to the audio launch. However, she refused to attend the function.
Aascar Ravichandran also wants to release Leelai which will also eat up some cost to release the film. Velayudham is expected very soon to be purchased by some big production house.

Till now I have been listening to the tracks in a technical manner to fine tune the sounds. I will listen to it while driving (as a listener) when I complete it. I am glad about the way the project has shaped up and audio will be released soon.

Jayam Raja is known for making family entertainers, so when he announced a project with the Ilayathalapathy, there was a talk that he might compromise certain of his principles to suit the star’s style.

To this, Jayam Raja had said that it is indeed true that his films are mainly family entertainers, but it was all made in such a way that action sequences in the film are downplayed to a great extent because of the storyline. He added that all of his films have intense action scenes.

The director said, likewise, Velayutham will also have certain intense action sequences and Vijay fans are going to love it. The director clarified that he did not have to change his style of movie making for Vijay.

TN CM to grace ‘Velayudham’ audio launch?

Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu have always had a close affiliation with the film industry and encouraged it. The then CM, ‘Kalaignar’ was present at the ‘Manaada Mayilaada’ finals show, but now sources say Ms. J.Jayalalitha, the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu might not be present at the audio launch of an upcoming flick.

She got good support from ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’s father S.A. Chandrasekar as well as actor Vijay himself during the recently concluded state elections.

While there was quite a buzz happening about this in the movie circles in Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister has subtly revealed that due to her hectic schedule she might not be able to grace the audio launch of ‘Velayudham,’ which will be held soon.

But nonetheless the CM has wished the entire team of ‘Velayudham’ a huge success as well as has forwarded her best wishes message to the film’s team.

Though a tentative date for the audio launch has not been revealed yet, there are rumours that the film’s team will be revealing the date shortly. The music composer of the film is Vijay Antony, and sources close to him are positive that this film’s music will repeat or shatter the record made by ‘Vettaikkaran,’ the previous contribution of Vijay Antony to a Vijay film.

Directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja, the film deals with a superhero subject with Vijay helming the project. He has a wonderful supporting cast in Genelia D’Souza, Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan.

No compromise for Vijay

“The story of ‘Velayudham’ demanded only an actor with a larger-than-life image, like Vijay. So we have not made any compromise in the script to satisfy Vijay fans as his character in the film will itself be a delight to them,” says ‘Jayam’ Raja, the director. The filmmaker, who celebrated his birthday on the sets of ‘Velayudham’ on Tuesday, said, “However, Vijay has come out with some special styles and mannerisms which will be liked by one and all, especially women fans.” On the film’s knot, Raja said, “It is a commonman’s war against loopholes in the system. How the hero achieves his mission in brainy and brawny ways is what ‘Velayudham’ is all about. The movie will be racy from scene one” “This is the most expensive Vijay film ever,” the director informed and added: “So the Ilaya Thalapathi took extra efforts to ensure that all is well. Our thanks to the producer (Aascar V Ravichandran) for his tremendous support.”

In the last Makkal Iyakam press meet, Vijay told that Velayudham will be a mass entertainer, which every actor has a gut instinct while working on a film about it's success. I’m confident director Raja’s efforts will not go waste and Shankar’s Nanban will be my next big film
