Vijay: From Nanbargal to Nanban

Not many know that Shankar was an assistant to SA Chandrasekar when he was directing Nanbargal.
This film went to become a cult hit when it was released nearly two decades ago and according to sources in Kollywood, Shankar has made a lot of changes during the making of Nanbargal which was the one of reasons for it becoming a hit.
Vijay, who was a young boy at that time, used to spend a lot of time discussing films, scripts and issues related to the film industry with Shankar.

This good rapport between Shankar and Vijay has now paved way for the latter bagging the main lead role in Nanban, sources say.

Is Vijay to Join Twitter?

Vijay as police officer in Sargunam’s next

Ilaiya Thalapahi has been thinking of donning the uniform for quite sometime.
It seems, that is all set to become a reality in the immediate future. He has played police officer-roles earlier, like the one in ’Pokiri’. But, he appears in unform for a few fleeting minutes.

Sargunam of ’Kalavani’ fame has approached Vijay with the role of a police officer and the superstar has given his nod, it is reported. Though Vijay is busy with several projects on hand and has some big projects like the remake of ’3 Idiots’ in the pipeline, he could not resist the temptation of the uniform, says our sourc

No one has any idea when Vijay would become free to do another film. But, Sargunam is busy penning the script for the superstar’s approval.

When will Vijay’s Pagalavan commence?

Seeman has completed the story, screenplay and dialogues for Pagalavan during his stint in the jail and Vijay had also approved of it. This led to a speculation on when the film will go on floors as Vijay has Velayutham and Nanban to focus on.

The actor is now in Dehradun along with Shankar and crew to take part in the shooting of Nanban, which is the remake of the Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots. Enquiries about Pagalavan have revealed that it will commence as soon as the state assembly elections are over.
If that is the case, then we can expect Pagalavan’s shooting to commence after the mid-week of April.

'Vanthiyathevan’ Vijay – Will he or Won’t he?

There is truth in the news that Mani Ratnam is working on the film version of the classic novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and three top leading actors will feature in the main cast. Buzz was also there saying Vijay, Vishal and Vikram would be playing the main three roles.
But there has been no official announcement on the multi-crore project yet like when will be it begin, who the producer is, who are the big actors signed etc. More over if you analyse the current going of those involved, you would want answers to many questions.
Vishal has given his dates for three films at a stretch. His film with Prabhu Deva has just started. Vikram is highly indecisive these days. Vijay will start ‘Pagalavan’ immediately after ‘Velayudham’. Then there is his film with ‘Kalavani’ director Sargunam.
With two of the proposed top actors having continuous projects in hand when will this new film start is the question on top of everyone’s mind. More over Mani Ratnam has signed Telugu super star Mahesh Babu for a bilingual film which is soon to start.

But sources also say that whatever conditions may be prevailing, the filming of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will start soon and Vijay will be there in it. They also say Vijay ca be seen these days with a bound volume of the novel and he spends a lot of time reading it. So, the game is still on.

‘Velayudham’ Song

While addressing the large fans gathering at the protest rally in Nagapattinam recently, Vijay also took some time to talk about his film ‘Velayudham’. Vijay said ‘Velayudham’ will more than compensate for ‘Kavalan’ with enough action and masala. He said ‘Velayudham’ has two kuthu songs to make the people get up and dance. But there is another emotional song which has become the favourite of Vijay. He said that, though the song was written for a different situation, when ever he hears it he just can’t stop thinking of his fans. The said song goes like this: Rathathin Rathame En Iniya Udanpirappe Sonthathin Sonthame Naan Iyangum Uyir Thudipe Ammavum Appavum Ellame Neethaane En Vazhkai Unakkallavaa Sethaalum Puthaithaalum Chediyaga Mulaithaalum  En Vaasam Unakkallavaa Vijay sang the song loud and was seen visibly moved while singing.

‘Velayudham’ to release before Diwali?

With Vijay wrapping up the shooting of ‘Velayudham’ fast on heels, it is being spread on airs that there might be chances of releasing the movie much before Diwali. Just when the movie was launched as a grand affair, it was announced that producer Aascar Ravichandran is planning to release the movie for the festive occasion of Diwali. In fact, Vijay and other actors had given long call sheet for this movie. But now it looks like the shooting will be completed within short span of time.

The reason?

Vijay had no big projects much before the release of ‘Kaavalan’. But soon as the film turned to be a good hit, the actor was thrown into absolute surprise as he was called back for Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ followed by an incredulous surprise of Manirathnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ in which performs lead role alongside Vikram and Vishal.
