Vijay and Sathyaraj are playing significant roles in Nanban. Sathyaraj will don the role of the professor, immortalized by Boman Irani in Three Idiots while Vijay, presumably the role played by Aamir Khan. Although they are still shooting for Nanban, reliable sources quote news from Maniratnam’s office that they will play pivotal roles in Mani’s Ponniyin Selvan.
Mani seems to be serious about adapting Kalki’s famous novel Ponniyin Selvan on screen and he is scouting for actors for the same. Last heard, Vijay will play the role of Vandiyadevan and Sathyaraj, the role of Arunmozhivarman. Mani himself, however, has not even confirmed news about his project on Ponniyin Selvan, however.
